Medicare Levy
A separate 2% charge on top of Australian income tax that funds the public health system.
The Medicare Levy is calculated separately from ordinary income tax brackets — it's a flat 2% of taxable income for most residents (with exemptions and reductions for low-income earners). Taxolase's Australia calculator includes it as 2% of taxable income, with the single-person low-income reduction applied.
