401(k)

A US employer-sponsored retirement account that lets you defer salary pre-tax, up to $24,500 in 2026.

Contributions to a Traditional 401(k) reduce your taxable income in the year you contribute, and the funds grow tax-deferred until withdrawal in retirement. Many employers match a percentage of contributions, effectively free money on top of the tax benefit.
